ALS Ice Challenge1WEBYesterday members of our Dining Services staff participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise money for the charity. The ALS Association is raising money by challenging people to dump a bucket of ice water on themselves and then give $10.00 to ALS. They then challenge someone else to do the same within 24 hours. The one challenged can either take the dare or forego the icy plunge and give a $100 donation.

ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) is a progressive disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. As the disease progresses, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.
