Founded with pride by two local churches, Southminster is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community committed to helping people maintain an active lifestyle with dignity, privacy, and peace of mind while ministering to their spiritual needs. Southminster fulfills this mission by employing dedicated staff members who give full attention to residents and their families, and who provide the highest level of quality services in a caring environment.

Southminster was born out of the vision of a few church leaders who had the faith to work for their dream of a retirement community. These visionaries from Christ Episcopal and Myers Park Baptist Churches joined together to build a very special community for people of all faiths.

After several years of planning and study, and after considering all possible needs of its future residents, these dedicated individuals proudly opened Southminster in 1987.
